Mariano Laplume
A multifaceted artist from Buenos Aires, Mariano began his investigations with tango as a dance-form in 2003. He developed his dance, together with his overall body awareness, alongside his successful career as a Tango musician. As a musician, Mariano had the good fortune to play as a violist in the Academic Orchestra of Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, Orchestra Tipica Imperial, Orchestra Estilos Tangueros of Academia Nacional del Tango after which he cofounded and became know as the violinist of the internationally renowned and much loved Sexteto Milonguero, playing in more than 40 milongas and festivals in Buenos Aires and over 100 more around the world.
Mariano studied Argentine Tango as a dance-form in Buenos Aires with a number of different well known and respected teachers, however Mariano's dance is very much the result of his own efforts and creativity. Working together with Maral Kojayan, he has developed and combined his knowledge of music and body awareness with the fundaments of tango. Maral & Mariano have worked together in Buenos Aires, Paris, Berlin, London and in other European cities.
Based for 6 years in London and now recently moved to Rotterdam, Maral & Mariano continue to run the very successful yet unpretentious Tango Garden whilst setting up their tango activities in The Netherlands...
In recent months, Maral & Mariano have trained celebrities for the TV show Dancing On Ice, and performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Academy of Music, Bolivarian Hall, Dance Around The World Festival in London and many five star private functions. They have also appeared on the cover of UK's Dance Today Magazine!
